Holly Butcher Music April Blog Post

Music Performance Tip -Learning music takes time. Be patient with yourself. When you perform in front of others and someone gives you a compliment here is a example how to respond "Thank you, I appreciate your kind words". Don't discredit how you did to the person giving you good feedback. If there is a part in your performance you didn't do correct try not to say something like this for example "Oh I didn't do that one part in the song correct." Value the good feedback. If you know you didn't practice enough that is something to correct leading up to next performance.

Vocal Tip -

Sometimes when you get ready to sing you feel like you need to clear your throat. Instead of scraping you throat, which is not going to help it but only activate more phlegm, drink some warm ginger tea with honey instead of scraping our throat. You can also try gentle humming and vocalizing with a vowel sound up higher and lower. The humming and vocalizing can help move the phlegm out of the way.

Piano Tip -

When practicing a song identify the difficult parts of the song and work on those first. Repeat over the difficult parts counting them out loud, playing them slowly, try playing hands alone then try hands together. After you go through and focus on the difficult part go back to the beginning of the song and play from the beginning. You should see improvement as you come through the difficult area. You can practice it this way throughout the week until the challenging section begins to feel comfortable to play.

2023 Piano and Vocal Recital is coming up in May!!

Keep up the good practice!
