Spring Recitals ~ Give the Gift of Music

Writer: holly butcherholly butcher

Spring is here and it is time to share the music we have been working on with our family and friends!

Recitals are a great way to grow your performance confidence. It also can be a time to gain more experience as a musician. Knowing you are going to perform in a recital can cause some jitters. It's ok to be a little nervous. The best thing that will help you not be as nervous is to be prepared with your music. When you know you have done the work, put in the practice and conquered those difficult measures of a song it helps you to feel ready to share the song. Another idea to help you be less nervous is to think of giving your song as gift to others.

Also, it is ok to be a little nervous it means you want to do good. Use that energy inside you and put it into your song through dynamics and musical expression.

If you make a little mistake keep going - most people don't even know it happened so keep yourself together and push on through.

Last tip is to SMILE and have fun! Music is a joy and let it brighten your day knowing you completed another year of learning to play piano or sing.

I'll see you at the recital! I'm so proud of you all!
